We have sinned, and deserve to be PUNished!

Re: Is Jason a zombie?

August 20, 2008 by aldon

I would put mummy's at about a 4 on the scale. They can move, but don't have any original thought. They just follow orders or respond to previous memories. The Romerian zombies have it together well enough to go out for food, and some are high enough up the scale to respond to questions.

For that matter, what's so special about vampires that we cannot put them on the undead scale? 7 is still open, and we might as well squish the vampires into it! Werewolves would be 10's, alive by anyone's standard.

Re: Is Jason a zombie?

Indeed, the 28 dayer's would be considered alive. I would put them at an eight. Everything is intact, but they definately have some brain damage going on. One system is impaired. Lets face it folks, who amoung us hasn't had days where 9 was the best we could be! Our zombiehood or life is, at best, a continuum.

Our good old romerian zombies might as well be placed at a five. That would put Jason at about a 6. Intelligent and tool wielding, but with a very narrow view of interacting with the world. Lets face it, something's wrong with the guy when he goes around killing all the girls who put out! There's a system not working for him, and he's pissed about it!

Frankenstein's monster would fit nicely in the 9 category. Uwe Boll would fit nicely in the 1 category, since I hear he's now sheep excrement.

I'm sure a vegan zombie would have a delightful asparagus flavor! Graiiins to you to!

Right now I only cut the grass over my septic tank. I'll be digging it up soon though!

Re: Is Jason a zombie?

While I agree with Dancingfred, it raises the question of "Is a revenant a zombie" To me this is a question of how many bodily systems are working. I remember a news story from a month or so back where a woman was clinically brain dead and returned to life when they shut the equipment down. I wouldn't classify her as a zombie. But she sure matched the definition of dead! [By the way, she's walking and talking, last report she was doing fine]

Zombieism can be viewed as being a spectrum, ranging from cold goo (lets call that 0) up to fully assembled and functioning creature(lets call that a 10). The Romero zombie has some systems working and some not working.

I finally saw slither. I was impressed. It felt like one of those fun 50 movies.

Doc, Thanks for reading the story! It sounded better being read than it did on paper.

April, it was a FUN! intro! I'm glad you were herd, er, heard.

Re: What are you reading right now?

I'm reading, listening to actually, Greener Than You Think by Ward. It's about grass that smothers the good old USA. It was written in the late fifties, and the author's toungue is firmly in his cheek.

Ms. Nickie, Did you know that if you go to librivox.com you can download the King in Yellow for free as an mp3 file? Just look it up under chambers or horror. For that matter, did anyone else know you can get a whole bunch of free mp3 books at librivox.com? They're putting out the books with expired ownership, read by volunteers! Some good stuff, such as Dickens and Saki.

Re: Dead Haikus

Now I will have to go look it up! All I know about Haikus is that buffy the vampire slayer said they sounded like sneezes!

Re: Making a "Zombie Songs" CD

August 16, 2008 by aldon

The problem, of course, is that not all of us will make it to the Zombie fest. I see many a give away for months to come!

I wonder what could be done with the lyrics of "one toke over the line" For that matter, the one about the Kent state shooting needs doing. I have a few favorite 60's songs (you know, the ones with harmony) and feel they could be improved on. Of course, I was only a toddler during that time, and I stink at remembering song titles. I'll have to go dig out the CSN&Y.

Hmmm,

Ten soldiers and Nixon's coming
We're finally on our own...

could be

Ten zombiefied pricks are coming
I'm finally on my own!
Last night I heard the moaning,
those bastards won't take my home!

What if you knew them,
And found them dead in the yard?
How can you run when they groan?

I have been listening to The Takeover off of Mur Lafferty's site. It's a hoot! Very much worthy of being here!

Re: David Wellingtons' "Monster" series...

August 15, 2008 by aldon

I have the autumn series on computer too. That's a series I would have bought in paper. It was not because the story was so riveting! It was because it was so plausible! It was one of the most reasonable accounts of how the dead would rise that I've listened to.

ps, I think natural voice reader is free now.

Re: David Wellingtons' "Monster" series...

August 15, 2008 by aldon

You always have to wonder who hands out super powers. If I could do it I'd saddle people with the most worthless powers available. I mean, they happen at random right! How about the ability to always find the letter y on the keyboard, or the ability to brush your teeth without splattering toothpaste! For the undead, it would be the ability to compose elevator music.

As for monster books, am I the only one who didn't understand why the mad scientist was needed for the book? If it's supernatural in origin then why not let it be supernatural? Perhaps I'm just bitchy. I got the books on computer, and like many stories on computer ran them through Natural Voice Reader.

They were well enough done to get me to listen to all of them! However, I would'nt have made it through reading them in text.

Re: Making a "Zombie Songs" CD

I'm thinking, re-animated man and the one based on sex and candy. The one based on Signs would be a good one. "Imagine me, shooting you" is a wonderful line.

We support your descent into madness!
We all want copies of Zombiefarmer's book too!

I hated how humanity survived at the end. Just because she solved a nonsense riddle. Up until then it was pretty good. I enjoyed the part about the strangled man asking can they please be the monsters now!
